Greystones New Pier Entry Lights

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

All In A Shell,   has recently installed the entry lights to the new Pier in Greystones, Co Wicklow.

This large building project is regrettably not completed but at least now, the new harbour area has a well marked entry from the sea.

We have used the VEGA VLB 67 LS 2 lanterns with GPS Synchronisation. These have a flash character of Fl 5 sec and a range of 4 nautical miles, in both red and green.

These lanterns are mounted on special, Fold Down  4m Jetty Masts. There are Polyethylene, Cone and Can, Top Marks with inbuilt radar reflectors, that are mounted on the light supports.

The use of Fold Down, Jetty masts has many advantages.

They provide eash access to the lantern, for legitimate users, but has no ladders or ladder support to invite vandalism.

When work is needed on the lantern, it is performed in comfort and safety at ground level rather than at the top of a 4m pole with ladder or cherry picker.

Shannon Foynes Port Co Upgrade Navigation Lights

Saturday, July 9th, 2011
Meelick Point in the Shannon Estuary have been upgraded using VEGA

VLB 36 lanterns supplied by All In A Shell. This work was part of the
ongoing upgrading of the Aids to Navigation and in particular in response to the need for brighter, more visible lights against the increased back round glare form lighting of the new Shannon Tunnel.  We supplied two VLB 36 lanterns  GPS synchronised to Fl ISO 4sec, range 5 nm.

Over the past three years Shannon Foynes Port Co. have chosen VEGA  and Carmanah equipment for their AtoN renewal programme. Having worked with different equipment,  John Carlton,  Port Engineer, is satisfied that this range of equipment supplied by All In A Shell best suits his requirements. A growing number of sites in the Shannon Estuary have now been up graded.

VEGA enter market for a 2-4mile range self-contained lantern.

Monday, May 17th, 2010

VEGA, the leading manufacturer of LED based navigation lights and sector lights ( PEL lights), have now entered to market in the 2-4 nautical mile range with its new VLB 67, a totally self-contained beacon that has equal or better performance that any other unit in this range but is little more that half the price of many of its competitors.

It comes in three sizes capable of four miles on many flash characters even in these latitudes. VEGA have put up a solar calculator for this new beacon on their web site to enable anyone to enter their own requirements and see the performance limits of the new VLB 67. Try it on www.vega.nz  see calculator option on left hand side of the LED Beacon page.

The VEGA VLB 67 s are now in stock and aleady meeting the needs of customers in Ireland.

New Carmanah 650 self contained Lantern goes into Service around the coast

Monday, May 10th, 2010

For the past ten years the Carmanah 601 self contained lantern has been the standard unit in the 1-2 nautical mile range. They found a niche in all ports around the coast and are very commonly used in AMBER as hazard markers for  construction, aquaculture, marine energy sites, out fall and wreck markers.

This highly efficient and cost effective unit has now been replaced by the CARMANAH 650, with a slightly extended range,  updated soft ware and above all the facility to fit a new battery. This facility has in effect doubled the service life expectancy of the unit to close on ten years. We now have stocks of this unit in all colours.

See attached data sheet on the Carmanah 650.

This unit has already been installed as part of the refurbishment of lights by Sligo County Council, in Sligo Harbour, by the Maine Inistitute on data buoys, on two Salmon Farms, and with in Dublin Port.
